PLAYBOY

My interest in this little car began when I was 16. I saw one at Bellingham Auto Sales in Bellingham MA. The owner, Mr. Moore, reportedly owned 11 of the 97 built as well as the rights to the design.

The Playboy was the last automotive venture started in Buffalo NY. It bowed in in 1948 as an inexpensive two-door convertible intended to be a family's second vehicle.

Production was started in the former Chevrolet Plant No. 1 on Kenmore Avenue by the Playboy Motor Car Corp. amid plans to build 100,000 cars a year and expand the line to include a station wagon and two sedans. Only 97 were ever produced before the company was forced into bankruptcy.

Here are two
original factory photographs.
One photo is in bad condition but is still a treasure.

This is an original dealer postcard from my collection. These are actually surprisingly common.
